been busy as bro... got a new GF who has taken up alot of my time (in a good way) she is also a photographer.. and we been doing some really cool shit together!!

i have a star map i did with her ill post it up...

she is more into bugs and flowers... and travel photography... wants to learn to pan... but dont really like cars... LOL

took her for a drive in the red car and she almost died... and we were still on the straight stuff... :(

the star map is 8 or 9 shots stiched in Auto Pano Pro, each shot was 30 sec at F2.8 and ISO 1600 (16mnm on 5D II) what you can see left to right is the milky way, and thats horizon to horizon... on the far left, you can see the souther cross... the full size version is 9075 x 5075 and 20mb as a jpg... (the raws were converted to tiff for the merge, able to remove a fair bit of noise)

Beautiful love that image. Always wanted to get into astrophotography and was ready to buy a telescope/mount and do some deep space stuff, but spent the money on cars :(

If you really love taking shots like the above or deep sky stuff be sure to check out iceinspace and POTN forums (best canon forum hands down).

Ah good to see you been busy :)

Look forward to seeing more photos from you.

the flying shot was at ISO 1600 and 1/125th at F3.2 21mm 16-35

the two wheel shot was ISO 1600 1/160th at F2.8 70mm 70-200

Yeah man, a photo girlfriend to share your adventures would be awesome. good work man ;)

I like how you can come away with a great shot no matter whats in shot.

Quick list of highlights for me on the page....

The waves breaking up top of the page is an awesome capture, along with the boat wreck.

The high speed rozella's in the water are nice and fun.

That star map... I can't even imagine the time that took to shoot and piece together properly but damn it was worth it. I might try one of these when it warms up one night :D Time to start doing some homework methinks.

Where was that grotto /light beam shot at? looks magic.

Hey guys cheers for the comments!!

she is cool as btw, looooves japanese food as well!!!

the waves breaking was a sunrise nightmare, as the sun didnt rise, instead there was this tiny line of red along the horizon... so i decided to do some thing a little different, the wave shot was just over a second and well timed...

the star map was easier than it sounds, just needed to make sure the camera didnt move too far as i panned it across the sky (on the tripod) AutoPanoPro did the rest... just need to be sure you can get a decent shot, the wider your lens, the longer you can leave the camera open... at 16mm its almost 30 sec, so at F2.8 and ISO 3200 and 30 sec, you get a fair bit of stars!!!

the grotto is at Natural Bridge, its almost on the Qld / NSW border, but inland, the shot above is 6 shots that ranged from -3 stops under to 2 stops over, to get all the details in the ceiling and the shaft of light...

the rosellas was just a bit of fun!!!

looking forward to spending 18 days on tour in Thailand / cambodia / vietnam on tour with Mel, and well we aint decided what to bring... but we are BOTH bringing bags, and id say we would have a good range of stuff... might leave the 135 here, and bring the 85 F1.8 instead (its lighter...) and maybe leabe my 24-70 at home tooo

Going to lakeside this weekend with a mate... i realised when i posted this up that it had been almost a year since i aimed at a car... and i really miss it...

Actually you know what I tested the 8-15mm fisheye lens (the new one). I didnt like it to be honest.

It didnt even give a full circle. Also there was another reason which i cant remember now.

I ended up borrowing the normal 15mm fish eye lens.

Tell her to borrow one before purchasing.

will only be a full cirlce on at 8mm on a full frame camera... and i have played with the 15 F2.8 fisheye... liked it and hated it at the same time, almost lost a foot when i asked a friend to pass me "close" so i could pan him going past... he almost ran over my foot...

and hit me with the LH front guard...

Mthe

grass shot and the water shot were both on the 5D II witht he 15mm F2.8 Fisheye,

the rest are on the 7D, Allan (the model) who is also a photographer, and I wanted to see what we could do with it... so we hired one... the shot of him off centre was to test the abberations at the edge... but on the 7D it was quite ok... and the level of distortion i was seeing was pretty good...

so it would be quite handy as an environmental type lens or for photo journalisim... the last image was the 8-15 at 8mm on a 7D there is ONLY just vignetting... and again putting the subject to one side was trying to get the subject to "grow" in the abborations...

and yes we were shooting DIRECTLY into the sun on purpose to see what flare it would have... and it worked surprisingly well... these are jpgs out the camera... the grass shot, is actually at night, ISo 100 F2.8 and 75 seconds or so with a flash light filling the foreground...

Even at 8mm I couldnt get the full circle on full frame.. Thats with the new 8-15mm fish eye.

I know the normal 8mm one you can.

ahhhh

:S its supposed to work that way...

here are some shots from lakeside Top Gear round 4 on sunday.... was a bit of fun...

PS i was there with a freind, both of us shoot Canon, and we egg each other on a fair bit... the EVO 6.5 (TME) was shot at 1/10th of a sec with a 600mm lens, the car would have been doing about 130 ish... or more...

so we were really just testing each other for fun... the number 7 alfa 105 is my favorite...

most speeds for the day were below 1/100th...
