Make – Kawasaki

Model - EL250

Year - 1988

Style - Cruiser

Motor – 250cc Parallel twin, twin carbs, water cooled rated at 33hp same engine as ZZR-250

Odometer – 22000km

I bought this motorbike about 4 years ago with 9000km on the clock and since then it has run like a dream. My partner and I have used this bike on our L’s and P’s but now we have both upsized and it is time to let the old girl go. Most of it’s life it has been used daily to get me to work and back and it is very fuel efficient and has always been garaged. Despite the fact it is only a 250 it has a surprising amount of get up and go and is happy to sit on 100km/h down the highway.

Having a low centre of gravity, relaxed seating position, and good handling it makes this the perfect learners bike or daily commuter.

The good

  • Tyres - Rear is about 3000km old and the front is brand new
  • Mechanical condition – serviced every 5000km, recently had new drive chain. Nothing to spend.

The not so good

  • Overall the bike is in good condition but as a learner bike it has a few minor blemishes, bumps and scrapes.

$1800 ONO.

Hi guys

Currently looking at selling my RB20DET ENGINEERED 1989 R31 Skyline Silhouette so I can try something different. I've owned the car for roughly 3 years now, mostly using it at Wakefield Park track days. It's well setup for both grip and drift while still being able to drive around town comfortably and legally as the car has an engineers certificate for the modifications performed. Oil has been changed after every track day the car has done, roughly every 2000km's. The only reason I stopped using it as a daily driver was someone tried to steal it once and as I work nights I wasn't comfortable leaving it out anymore. The body could do with some love but the paint for the most part is still in good condition which is quite rare for a 20+ year old red car!

** NOTE car will be sold WITH Road Worthy Certificate **

Here is a list of parts although I've probably forgotten somethings.

I am selling my 1988 Nissan Silva S13 Convertible. It is in overall very good condition, whenever it needs work done I have paid to use top quality parts with the intention of keeping the car forever.

I bought the car in 2002 when my son started Kindergarten, he is now in year 12 and has his licence. Basically the car has been used mainly for dropping him at school and picking up. He and his friends loved sitting in the back seat enjoying the breeze in their hair and waving at other cars.

The car had 66,000 when the previous owner imported it and 87,000 when I bought it. I did a manual gearbox conversion in 2002 just after I bought it. It now has 196,747km’s on it.

3 years ago I spent over $15,000 on the following;

New Roof out of Mohair,

New light Grey Leather interior using Scottish Leather,

New Plush pile Carpets,

New paint job.

The trimming work was done by Classic Coachworks in Sydney using the same materials that Porsche use in a convertible 911 and Classic Coachworks would use to repairs cars of that standard. The paint job was done by Noel Walker who specialises in older car restorations. The car has no rust or body filler apart from the minimal required to get a smooth paint finish.

This year it hs only done 400km’s and has had the following done;

4 new Hertz speakers HCX 165 for the rear and HSK 165XL splits in the front.

4 New Federal 595SS tyres,

New Alloy 17” Koya Racing wheels powder coated in Black Shadow Chrome,

New Tein Super Street Coil Overs,

New 3inch Dump pipe and front exhaust,

New Timing Belt, Water pump, Thermostat, Laser Platinum spark plugs, top Radiator Hose and other Coolant hoses and the 200,000 service performed.

The car feels tight with new suspension and with nice stereo, nice leather and good paint job generally feels more like a new car than a car that is 25 years old. The car speakers won best in category on www.caraudionow and with the Hertx HCP4 amp sound very rich and crystal clear.

Reason for selling. My son got his P’s end of last year and unfortunately crashed into a gutter in the rain, I paid to have the car fixed and the 200,000km service at a cost of $4,500. The day I got it back he insisted he was going to be sensible and wanted to go for a drive and crashed it into a gutter again, this time it could not be driven so I arranged for NRMA to tow it to on of their preferred repair places. Due to the age of the car NRMA wanted the repairer to do the repairs with me to pay and they would cash settle me for what they believe is a fair amount. The cost for the repairs was $6500 which included the new coilovers and they just reimbursed me $462 based on extra work done to the car, I was expecting some out of pocket expenses but not as much as I have. The main reason for selling is I really need the cash to cover the short fall of the repairs. Also my wife is very angry and insists the car must go. Really I should have given the car away before my son got his licence and I would be financially better off.

Based on the good condition of the car and all the new parts fitted during the 200,000 service if driven by someone mature and sensible I think a new owner could easily get many km’s of reliable fun motoring.

I think $11,990 is a fair asking price, however as I need the money to cover the cost of repairs I am open to any sensible offer.

Call me on 0450 933 882 for more information or photos of the car.

Car: Nissan Silvia

Year: 1989

Trans: Manual

Motor: CA18DET

Km's: 190xxx

Asking Price: $7500

Rego: ACT untill Jan/2015

Background/Reason for selling

I bought the car stock in 2004, at the time it was a CA18DE. In 2007 instead of buying a Liberty 3.0r Spec B I pushed that money into doing some serious work to the car, not the best idea financially but I was young and had a bit of money lying about. The foundation was a second hand CA18DET motor and gearbox to which I added all the expected trimmings making for roughly 190-200rwkw.

After a month of fun the headgasket gave way and the motor was sent to QLD for a full rebuild. After a painfully long breakin period for the motor (5000km with no boost) the pressure was increased for 228rwkw (2008). At this point it's appeal as a daily diminished, whether that was because of the harshness of the ride, it's ability to consume only 98RON fuel or my laziness I'll never truly know. In any case I bought an Aussie boat, auto, Climate/Cruise Control and the ability to feed it whatever was at the bowser regardless of octane.

I kept the car on as a weekend warrior but in 2011 I left the country to study for a year overseas, putting the car into storage. In 2012 I returned home and prepped the car for weekend fun again as well as tidied up some of the more noticeable modifications. This work included the following:

- New FPR/Injectors and tune (236rwkw);

- Replaced Rear main seal and clutch;

- Replaced Atom BOV with Plumbed back one;

- Modified intake to receive hoses from BOV & catch can; and

- Relocated battery to boot, installed isolation switch in cabin.

As I had established some serious ties during my time in Canada I decided to complete my studies overseas and once again the car was placed in storage. My original intention was to return to Australia once I had completed my degree therefore I continued to pay rego/insurance and get my family to drive the car for servicing (Water pump was replaced last year, no need for timing belt to be replaced as motor was only 15xxx old). Now I've decided to make a home in North America therefore I'm selling the car.

If your interested and want to deal with me (The person who knows the car) you'll have to be available between August 7-21 as this is the time I'll be in Canberra. I don't live in Australia anymore so you'll have to either email me cafc_86@hotmail.com (Make sure subject is Silvia) or PM for more information, I'll provide a mobile number when I arrive in Canberra.

I only photo's I have of the car are 2 or more years old and don't reflect it's current appearance therefore I haven't posted any. However if you want them, once again email or PM me. I will upload some once I'm back in town and have cleaned all the dust and spiderwebs off it.

For those of you who know the car the number plate with not come with it. It was a gift and it therefore wouldn't be ethically right to sell it. I will replace it with standard ACT plates.

List of Modifications:

- Xspurt 725 injectors.

- CA18DE cams.

- Forged internals.

- Modified head with oversized valves.

- Garret GT2871r.

- Larger radiator & oil cooler/oil filter replacement kit.

My 18 year old son finished year 12 last year, has got a job and is interested in buying his own car. Probably because he has been in my car since being in a baby seat he loves S13 Silvia's. If anyone knows of a good S13 Silvia for sale he would be interested. As he has only just finished school his job is not great pay so we are more interested in a car that doesn't need money spent on it. As we all know project cars always cost twice what you hope.
