Help me choose my race/sport/road bike =)

Recommended Posts

Ok, so Like most I love my jap sports bikes, but Im trying to find some more unique models rather than just the same R1/GSXR/CBR/ZX10 etc that you see everywhere

I wouldnt mind something alittle different, but I do love my fairings, and i dont want something thats impossible to get parts for when something breaks.

Ive been lookin at the aprilla's.. look nice but not a huge fan of the sound, dislike KTM's sports bike.. it looks like a pile of triangles with wheels. and I dont want to be a ducatti douche :) (no offense..) lol

So throw me ideas. I havent ridden many litre bikes, but i know what they are like so im expecting fear to hit me each time i ride, with a killer sound track, and race style fairings.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand GO! =)

Have a look at the MV Augusta F4-R 312, also have a look at the Buell 1125r.. both something a bit different with plenty of power and looks.

If you have a spare 80k or so and definitely want to be different have a look at the Asphaltfighter StormBringer a pretty incredible machine.

yeh didn't think that one was a goer. the other two though are a bit more normally priced. Another one that comes to mind is the Triumph Speed Triple R.. not full fairing but still pretty cool or the Daytona 955i for full fairing.

you like the Aprilias but not the sound? - get an rsv4 with full titanium akrapovic exhaust, tell me you dont like the sound of that

In your post you've pretty much eliminated all the best production bikes and companies around the world, these bikes are popular for a reason

If your interested in naked bikes then there are more unique options

what was your last bike?

if you dont want any of the bikes listed i think your looking for something else than a sport bike as there all the best listed bikes thats why there so many around.

i went the zx10r as 1 i love them but also as not as common as the r1,gsxr,cbr but yes there is still heaps around but i think if you want that sorta bike test ride whats in your list and pick which 1 you like best.

my mate has the aprillia rsv4 and the bike is awsome.

i also know someone who has an rsv4, absolutely hates it. bought it for 35, selling now for 28 with less that 2000 on the clock. another mate just got a 2011 zx10r, very nice!

Triumph Daytona?

+1 for this, the latest generation Daytona R is a weapon; telemetry is brilliant and the power for a 675 is impressive.

Another +1 for the S1000RR; if you are looking for the fastest supersport then look no further

Forget the misconception re douche bags and Ducati, when you are knee down in the twisties nobody gives a shit about branding. The new 1199 is an incredible bike.

I'm more of a naked guy, love the relaxed riding position and flickable nature and they will hold their own with the supersports.

Check out a few of the best:

Triumph Speed Triple R 1050

KTM SuperDuke R 990

BMW K1300R (my next bike)

Ducati Monster 1100 evo

Ducati Streetfighter 1098

*I would also say the new Ducati Diavel but that is probably too far down the spectrum for what you want.
