sharkey 2 Posted October 20, 2010 so i've been listening to death metal for quite a while, and I've also played in a local Adelaide death metal band. I've had the privilege of playing with The Black Dahlia Murder and Thy Art Is Murder which i consider some of the best death metal bands around I recently quit my band, unlucky though because they're playing with Despised Icon and The Red Shore But yeah, post your favorite heavy band and a good song by them! love hearing new music

Spazo 41 Posted October 20, 2010 Such a blur between the different genres of metal, a debate I don't care to get into but I'm taking it that you mean the heaviest stuff. These are some of my fave metal tracks from over the years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKjgpTis0Vo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5Hv0tsvpyU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8-J4hL7iDM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xnv2r9AZucA
sharkey 2 Posted October 20, 2010 What do you classify as "death metal": well proper death metal i would say The Black Dahlia Murder and Trigger The Bloodshed kinda shit, which don't have breakdowns. but i guess if people dig the whole 'deathcore' thing they can post that shit in here too. Like impending doom and suicide silence i would not class as death metal.
sharkey 2 Posted October 20, 2010 pretty cool band from the UK f**king tech! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdRUByppGzc

Did you ever play a show in Melbourne? Your vocalist has a decent influence to Jonny Davey (Job For A Cowboy). LOL! You band sounds similar to them and vocal influences from Bermuda. I love the "Sonic Boom" of the drums you put in the end of your new song.

People are shit, the music scene is shit and my passion for the music is kinda gone... i mean, all the dudes in Orphans are such legends! just other people in the music scene i can't stand
Pervy 153 Posted October 29, 2010 Saw Soilwork on Wednesday night at Fowlers in Adelaide. Pretty decent gig. Played a fair few of their older songs which was good. One of the local opening bands were really good. Universum http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulG3MRh6cIo Double Dragon also opened but wasn't that keen on them. Hoping Children Of Bodom come back next year once they've released their new album.

OldMansCar 9 Posted November 2, 2010 i personally have never considered Soilwork, Children of Bodom or In Flames Death Metal. I suppose they are, but ive never thought of them like that. Death Metal needs the growling voice, not singing. They dont do high pitched screams either they growl. I dont know anymore, too many variations on it, too many sub genres cropping up like Behemoth, wheres that fit? Exhorder? is that thrash? Eye Hate God? is that sludge? who draws the lines? Pervy 153 Posted November 2, 2010 How is Alexi's voice singing? lol It's the typical death metal style.
OldMansCar 9 Posted November 2, 2010 Id lump COB with Dark Tranquility and the Gotenberg sound, Melodic Death Metal if you like listen to that COB song you posted then listen to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKCh4D5wHBk&p=43D490CD125939AC&playnext=1&index=55 COB sounds like lollipops and fairies in comparison. Not saying i dont like it, there is just far more brutal stuff out there and the most brutal type of metal should be called death metal (this is where that naming thing comes in again) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpnMnG3kH1U&feature=related i cant understand a f**king word this guy is saying. Whereas with COB i kind of can.
