What gear do you wear while riding?

Recommended Posts

Part of the fun of looking for what bike to get is also looking for what gear to get.

I'd just like to see what gear the riders here wear before i start spending big.

I remember someone on here mentioned a 'something warehouse' website for cheaper priced gear? Ive trawled thru every topic in every section of the bike forums and cant find the link again <_>

Apex can get a bit sticky mate; anything from the Dri rider 'climate control' series is the go.

Maybe pick up a second jacket & use the original for winter?

I am looking at picking up a second jacket soon, probably leather for when I do some spirited riding.

yeah thats what i was thinkin.

i'm contemplating getting a leather jacket of some sort. But talking to a bloke that was getting his Ls for a 3rd or 4th time (kept letting it expire) that leather isnt any better. I'd rather be cool than look cool.

I've got an

arai "vector - YF design" lid with black visor

Alpine star "stunt" leather jacket

RST "rift" leather pants with replaceable knee sliders

alpinestars boots with replaceable toe sliders

Pair of carbon fiber/Kevlar gloves.

IMO, the new ARAI helmets are very comfy and well fitted. BUT they have a very POOR visor change mechinism. You will know what I mean if you look at one. Very weak and flimsy. Won't be getting another.

Jacket - Awesome. Great design, keeps me cool and dry. Rode in the rain for 10 hours, didn't get wet.

Pants- shit. I can move my legs enough in them. Can easily get my knee down in draggins, but can't in these. Could just be my body though.

And if you are thinking about draggins, beware!

Yes, they are awesome, they are comfy, and you can even wear them to the shops. They will most likely not get holes in them if you fall - which will avoid skin/road contact.

What it won't do is protect you from 2nd and 3rd degree burns, that hurt, and blister, and leave mad scars (speed pending of course).

IMO, do it right the first time. You don't wanna have to buy it again anytime soon, personally head to toe in leather. It's not about looking cool, it's about coming out in the best possible condition............ And it's not that hot lol.
