GTX3071 results (.63 rear)

Not long ago, there was a lot of discussion about this turbo so I thought I'd post my results and experience so far.

I've got a forced motorworx motor with Tomei 260/260 procams, plazmaman plenum, id1000cc injectors, powertune high mount manifold, 38mm tial gate, haltech platinum pro, etc.

On pump 98 car makes 280rwkw on 20psi, full boost at 4500rpm. Some might suggest that's laggy and it should be in by 4000rpm or less, but it's spent a fair amount of time on the dyno and that's the best we could get. Might be able to do a little better if adjustable cam gears were added, but for me it's not a problem. I also think the plenum has shifted the power band up by about 3-400rpm.

My car is a street car, but is designed to surprise exotics if I get the chance, so I've got the exflex sensor and went to tune it on e85 yesterday. Had issues with the brand new walbro 460lph running out of fuel at 20psi. It made 300rwkw easily. So once I sort the fuel issue, I'll report back.

But driving on the street is great with this setup. It's torquier down low from idle than my girlfriends Mazda 3, cruises nicely, uses less fuel cruising and from 4000rpm onwards lights the rears. Transient response is great, and I don't care what anyones says, this is where you notice ball bearings over bush bearings. And it's actually more linear than expected, on 98 at least. It ramps on like an animal on e85...

So I hope this helps anyone considering this turbo, especially those who expect sub 4000rpm full boost. But bear in mind, this thing will likely go on to make 350rwkw.

looking forward to seeing what it does with more fuel support and boost

 

i personally would of stuck with the standard plenum chamber and just upgraded the throttle body on its own

The benifit of the plazmaman plenum is that coupled with the plazmaman fuel rail, it's easy to fit top feed injectors. Plus, I expect it to produce much more midrange torque and peak hp. I've got the smallest 66mm throttle body, and internal ram tubes. The car keeps making power at 8000rpm, but limiter has been set at 7500.

You can still run a top feed rail with the standard plenum

banana boy went back to a standard plenum

Ditched the Pnt item for a standard plenum with spacer plate so he could keep his top feed rail

Gained power all over the range

Yeah I know, I'll see what it makes with 30psi and make the decision after that. I expect it will make a big difference at higher boost pressure

At least u still got the lower half of the runners compared to to the Pnt item which replaces the whole lot and had even shorter runners

Has anyone had issues with standard fuel line size flowing enough on e85 around the 500rwhp range?

 

Also, does the standard in tank fuel pump hose need to be changed to something specifically e85 compatible?

i ran standard fuel hoes in my 180sx and made well over 500rwhp

every thing is talking shit about the standard lines being to small and won't flow enough, yeah right eat a dick

i ran standard fuel hose under the car i had a single entry fuel rail with -6 fittings on each end of it and made 800+hp

haven't got any photos or dyno sheets of the banana boys car but here is a video and it has a bit of the dyno sheet in it after converting back to the standard plenum chamber

For fuel flow issues. Have you checked the voltage at the pump? May benefit from hardwiring.

Also could be a blocked fuel filter.

Cheers. Yeah I'm wiring for 13.5v and will see if that helps. That single pump should be more than enough, so if it doesn't do much then I'll know it's the standard lines

Trust me it's not the standard lines

Like I said I ran standard lines

Single entry fuel rail with -6 fittings

Made over 800hp

I ran twin walbro pumps T-pieced into the single standard fuel line

Solved the fuel issue by rewiring the pump to 13.5V. So back on the dyno today.

 

Car made 340rwkw @ 28psi. Walbro 460lph and ID1000cc injectors maxed.

Great results mate. Can I ask hiw did u re wire the pump?

Cheers mate. Fuel pump was wired direct to the battery via a relay and 20A fuse
