  1. 4.3 earthquake in north nsw

Not really but depends how deep they are and how close you are the center, in the last two years we have had over 50 earthquakes between 5-7.1 and sh*t loads of 4 and 5's By "we" do you mean Australia or the world? Na thats just for where I live in Christchurch NZ. O I C 4.3 is probably not big to a geologically active place like NZ, but an earthquake not much bigger than that was responsible for some significant property damage and injury in Newcastle about 20 years ago. An earthquake that size on a city that is built on the assumption that they will never have an earthquake, can be nasty. I don't really think a 4.3 would damage anything structurally only really notice them if you are sitting down, even tho we have a high building standard older building only had meet a certain percent of the standard. Wellington is the same. That Newcaste one was quite a bit bigger, each magnitude on the Richter scale is something like 10x bigger, a 5 would be 10times stronger than a 4, most of our damage and death came from a 6.3 that was centered really close to the city.

  4. D21 Pathfinder thoughts/experiences?

I wouldn't tow anything heavy with a manual, they tend to sh*t gearboxes easly, auto aren't to bad just need to fit a trans cooler.
  5. D21 Pathfinder thoughts/experiences?

We have heaps over here, The V6 is pretty thristy, manual gear boxes are pretty weak, the diffs are pretty strong, rear diff is a h233b pretty much the same as the patrol, good LSD in them, front steering is pretty week if offroading tie rods need replacing often, 31" tires fit straight on 33s need a body lift and a guard cut to fit. They can get rust under the rear seats I think it was a problem in the early models, lots of people seem to use them over here they are called a Terrano they are pretty cheap have a look on offroadexpress.co.nz there is a few projects on the go.
  6. winches!

Is your GQ 24v or 12v? You want to compare the line speed and amp draw between all the winches you are looking at. My work mate has a swb Gq and uses a 24v 9000 lb SuperWinch EP, pulls it along pretty quickly, you can get them from the USA for about 700+shipping really good winch.
  7. 4x4 topic/crew pt II

Make sure you have something descent to pull off, i've seen two surfs rip the chassis rails out with the hook attached both when through the back window one went out the roof left a 300mm hole, the other smashed into the passenger seat.
  8. 4x4 topic/crew pt II

The brand is Runva, heaps of people over hear in NZ use them with no troubles, they are one of the better cheaper winches, just make sure you use a pulley block if you have to work it hard. With the dollar being so good I'd look at getting a SuperWinch from the States, I brought two from Summit racing, worked out to $900 USD each delivered, I reckon they are better than a Warn winches.
  9. somwhere in aus to get 3in rear lift for 4runner 89?

Factory 80 series landcruiser springs give 4runners a good 2.5-3inch lift. Quite cheap too.
  10. I used summit racing last week, took 4 days to get to me in NZ, pretty good service.
  11. Now ready to buy a 4x4

Get a Patrol or landcruiser if you want to tow, the 1kz-te is a great motor but they do like to get hot/crack heads when used for towing.
  12. Hilux Surf 3 litre TD

Are you still having over heating issues?? Is it losing coolant and getting hot? or just getting hot? do you have a after market water temp gauge? whats been done so far to try fix it?
  13. Looking at beginning steroids

Why don't you post up what you eat and what you do at the gym first, before finding out about steroids.
  14. Arb air locker, where to buy?

On a surf I don't think you would ever be able to break a lock rite, other shit will snap well before the shear pins in the diff would, But if you had chromoly cvs and axles and ran 35+ inch tires I would expect the shear pins in the diff to snap before anything else, The arb air lockers do have there down sides to, like when you rip the air line out of the diff or the compressor fails or a seal in the diff leaks causing it to stay unlocked If you have the money i'd go for the Arb, are you going to do any thing with the front diff?
  15. Arb air locker, where to buy?

http://www.rocky-road.com/toyarb.html these guys are pretty good got a lock rite locker from them, slightly cheaper than lowrange to. You guys are lucky with the high dollar.
