  3. 2011 Japanese Nationals Show & Shine, Sprints and Cruise sessions at Lakeside Park Some of the finest machinery to emerge from the land of the rising sun will be on show at Lakeside Park on Sunday, September 25 when the iconic Queensland racetrack hosts the 2011 Japanese Nationals. Held in conjunction with the Classic Japanese Show & Shine Inc. (CJSS), the Japanese Nationals steps up a gear in 2011 with its massive show & shine display complemented by an exciting range of on-track action. Throughout the day Japanese car owners can take part in Lakeside cruise sessions, 1/8-mile drags, a regularity trial, sprints and, for the very fastest of the crop, a one-lap, $1000 Time Attack shoot out. Open to all makes and models of cars manufactured in Japan, the Japanese Nationals was held at Lakeside Park for the first time in 2010 with tremendous success. With the experiences of last year to build upon, organisers expect 2011 to be one of the largest Japanese car events in the nation in terms of numbers of entrants and spectators. CJSS founder Ray Ferguson says he expects up to 300 cars to participate in the Classic Japanese Show & Shine and a further 100 cars to compete on the track. “The move to Lakeside Park last year gave a significant boost to our event,” said Mr Ferguson. “Many older blokes like myself have fantastic memories of this place and, along with a lot of the younger guys, we love to get out on the track, whether it’s in the timed competition or just for a leisurely cruise lap.” Mr Ferguson said he expects a vast array of Japanese machines on display on September 25, with representation from the 1960s right through to 2011. Nissan Skylines for example will range from Ferguson’s own 1965 Prince Skyline to brand new R35s. “That’s the great thing about the Japanese Nationals, we welcome Japanese car fans of all ages to show off their pride and joy - including road cars, race cars, drift cars and show cars,” said Mr Ferguson. Paul Ruzic, whose company timeattack.com.au has stumped up the $1000 prize money for the lap dash shootout says he is proud to promote the quest for the perfect lap. “Ruzic Engineering and timeattack.com.au are very proud to get behind the Japanese Nationals’ sprint shootout,” Mr Ruzic enthused. “It’s all about that one perfect lap. We’ve taken the art of race qualifying and turned it into a sport, and what better encouragement than to finish the day with a pocketful of prize money.” The Japanese Nationals, set on the banks of gorgeous Lake Kurwongbah, promises a stunning visual feast of Japanese automotive history and a thrilling day of on-track action. The activities for the day are: - Show & shine - Cruise sessions - Regularity trials - Sprints - One lap dash for $1000 cash - Sponsored by Time Attack Japanese Manufacturers Eligible Datsun/Nissan Mazda Subaru Honda Prince Toyota Mitsubishi Suzuki Isuzu Daihatsu 2011 JAPANESE NATIONALS Lakeside Park – Lakeside Rd, Kurwongbah Sunday September 25, 8am – 5pm Spectator entry $10/person at the gate; children 12 & under are free Track Activity Enquiries: Neil Lewis at Qld Raceways – 07 5461 9100 - or events@qldraceways.com.au Show and Shine Enquiries: http://www.classicjapaneseshowandshine.com/ Web: http://www.qldraceways.com.au/
