Hey guys,

When I bought my s15, it came with a GFB stealth fx bov already fitted. I've been playing around with it for a good 3 months now and I love the sound of it, but my cars currently getting waayyyy to much police attention so since I don't have the factory bov I'm trying to adjust the stealth fx so that its completely silent. I know this is possible to do because theres a hot4's review on youtube with a stealth fx fitted to an evo and they are able to make the bov completely silent. This is wat I want mine to sound like however, my s15 doesn't seem to want this to happen. when the valve is set to plumback, I still get a loud fluttering noise. Every setting I try, I cant seem to shut it up. Does anybody know how to adjust this bov for a 200sx so that its completely silent because I cant seem to find an answer anywhere else

thanks, I appreciate any help

loosen the spring up all the way when its on the plumb back setting, mine was quieter than the standard bov at that setting

Are you sure the fluttering is coming from the bov and not the pod filter?

Yep. Loosest spring setting and full plumb back. U will still get a bit of flutter with a pod tho.

hmmm I spose it could be the pod (I have a trust airinx II) but the noise is ludacrisly loud so I'm not too sure if its that. Would this still happen with a factory bov and a pod filter tho.

Ill go try your suggestion clint

if you loosen the spring by adjusting top bit of the StealthFX, and you still got a lot of flutter coz of the air bounces back to the turbo, the BOV prob is no longer working properly for plum back or the spring is not good.

ok so I tried all your suggestions....and it is the pod filter. sound comes completely from the right hand side of the engine bay when you stand in front of it. Its soooooo loud tho, and theres no avoiding it unless u shift at like 2k revs which isnt always possible. Is there anyway to prevent the filter from doing this, or even to reduce it or I'm gonna get royally bent over by a bike cop and his novelty porno moustache.

^^^ Yes get an air box made up

I dont really know why yours is making that sound

on my S15 if I adjust the spring and have it set right it is totally silent no noise even from the bov, just like a woosh sound like the find blowing is all you can hear.

Personally it is so boring so I like to have it a little on atmosphere and the spring a little too tight.

Also to stay away from defects remove the trumpet off your bov, if you do that when a cop looks at it due to the angle it is mounted on an S15 you would never know it was an atmospheric bov as you cant see the atmo side. To make it totally legal buy a plug from GFB to screw into the whole

an airbox hey? Ill look into that actually, could be difficult, I have a custom heat shield already installed but thx 4 the tip!! I think it may be my particular pod (trust airinx II) cuz i got nfi wat else it could be.

probably not running enough boost, the more boost the louder the vent.

idle problems are usually the result of the spring being too soft i think but not 100%

the back fire is caused by you still running an air flow meter pretty much the only way to prevent this is either getting a plumb back bov or getting an aftermarket ECU that uses a MAP sensor instead of the AFM

the firts option is obviously the cheapest

yes the GFB Fx is a great bov for nissans

I'm running the GFB stealth in my 180sx and its great. I did initally have some idle problems but i tightened the spring and never had a problem since. As for noise level, when i have it full open its bloody loud and i'm only running 9 PSI

I have a blitz type LM Pod filter and the sucking noise is louder then a romanian prostitute and it sounds like a blow off valve when I lift off the throttle. I love it but it is super loud I have to be careful to shift at lower RPMs

I have a GFB Stealth BOV on my S14. Great BOV, easy to install, very loud and hard for cops to find a well.

My friends all have the HKS sqv. I dnt really like it cuz u cant adjust it at all and mine is at least 3 times as loud! sounds better too. Its a great bov for a nissan, spesh if u want to let every1 in a 100m radius know you have one so if loud is wat ure after Id prob lose the blitz and switch 2 the GFB if u can afford cuz they not cheap :S .

I'll post a vid up for you of how it sounds on an s15 when I can find it. Does your 180 have an sr20??

thanks, yep i have sr20det black top in my 180sx.

thanks for the information. yeah thats what my machenic told me, that i have a bigger afm and the air are not going right, i either get a after market ecu or a plumb back bov, but i have always wanted to have a loud bov in my car thats why i got a turbo car. hehe.

I think they make 4 types. 1 for the s15/s14, one 2 fit skylines, one for a wrx and one called a "universal" stealth fx that can be fitted on any turbo car. I think they like $500....but well worth it

There is no off the shelf GFB for a 180sx so you will have to get an adaptor made up for it. Mine's sitting on the cold pipe so i had my fabricator make something up for me, although its location isnt exactly "Stealth" lol

well you can buy different trumpets for it. 1 of them gives it that whistling flutter sound. Just play round with the bov until you get a sound your happy with.....thats wat i did

have a look on pages 4 and 7 in the GFB catalogue, I assume you'd have to buy the whistle seperately. Personally, if i were you, id save up and buy the deceptor pro, same bov but u can adjust it from in the car, pretty cool imo
